The View from the Shard
The View from the Shard opened this month to offer the most spectacular 360-degree view of London ever seen, from 800ft, (244 meters), up. This compares with the view from the top of London Eye at (443ft, (135 meters).
The viewing platforms are on two levels; enclosed on the 69th floor and partially open to the elements on the 72nd floor. From there, on a clear day, you can see an astonishing 40 miles, (64 kilometers), taking in landmarks such as Windsor Castle, (a mere 20 miles away).
High-speed lifts with accompanying symphonic and choral soundtrack take you up to the View where you will find multimedia displays and installations to help your viewing. Multi-media displays with large touchscreens enable you to explore the city and identify famous London landmarks and places of interest as well as offering you annotated alternative day and night-time views of the capital. There are also video screens and display panels at ground floor level showing digital maps of London and film footage of city life.
Allow yourself 60 minutes to fully enjoy the breathtaking views of London. This is a unique and memorable London experience and well worth the ticket price.
