Fans of Harry Potter who cannot get enough of the wizard's books and films are now able to experience all the fun and thrills of an exciting Harry Potter film museum at Leavesden Studios.

Hollywood's Warner Brothers group has built a permanent Harry Potter film museum at Leavesden Studios near London that were used to film all eight movies in the series, proving the film business is booming in the UK despite the recession.

Warner bought a 170-acresite near Watford, Hertfordshire, and invested 100 million pounds to expand the studios. As well as employing thousands of people year on year, this involvement has attracted close to 1.9 billion pounds in film production budgets, equating to almost 40 per cent of the UK's inward investment in film production over that time. The studios is a permanent UK film production base for the company, making it the only Hollywood studio to possess and operate its own production facility in the UK. It has used Leavesden for filming since 2000, including the first part of the Deathly Hallows, the penultimate in the eight-part series, recently released to the delight of Potter fans, with the second part coming in 2011.

Warner Bros at Leavesden boasts one of the largest back-lots in Europe, representing about a third of the dedicated stage space for important film production in the UK. It can accommodate a number of major Warner Bros and third-party film productions each year as well as TV and advertising work. Other films to have been made there include the recent blockbusters The Dark Knight, and Inception. Its most recent use was to film the second Sherlock Holmes film, directed by Guy Ritchie. The expansion of the studio will see investment in Leavesden's visual effects, prosthetics and animatronics departments.

Two new sound stages are home to a Harry Potter museum featuring film sets, costumes, creatures, puppets, props and make-up - but Warner was careful to stress this was "not a theme park". J K Rowling, the author of the series, has been reluctant to license amusement rides.

Visitors will get a behind-the-scenes look at the Harry Potter movie series and, by prior booking, will give the public the ability to tour several of the original sets at the studio where all eight films were produced. Guests will have the opportunity to witness the exceptional creativity and craftsmanship that went into bringing the film series to life and discover the career opportunities that exist within this dynamic and growing industry. Warners' chairman and chief executive Barry Meyer said the company was committed to the UK film industry and had spent 1.9 billion pounds on film production in the UK over the last 10 years, representing about 40 per cent of total inward investment in the sector in that period.

He added: "For 86 years, Warner Bros has been intrinsically involved in film production in the UK. Warner Bros Studios, Leavesden - with our multimillion-pound investment in creating a state-of-the-art, permanent UK film production base - demonstrates our long-term commitment to, and confidence in, the skills and creativity of the UK film industry."

His colleague, Josh Berger, Warners' president and managing director for the UK, Ireland and Spain, added: "At a time when investment in the UK is critical, Warner Bros Studios, Leavesden is a significant endorsement of the creative talent here in the UK. It will generate jobs, inward investment and interest in an industry that is respected the world over."

Warner Bros president and chief operating officer Alan Horn added: "From Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Parts 1 & 2, the roll call of movies made at Leavesden is nothing short of spectacular.

"Over the last decade, it has been a place of incredible ambition, boundless energy and unprecedented success and I am delighted that we are going to build on that rich legacy with many more productions in the future."
